Social Media, Can it Boldly Go Where no Man has Gone Before?

Social media has many facets and mechanisms that it use to grab our attention. Social media is entwined with our technologically advanced generation that is always craving for the latest thing. How healthy is being addicted to social media and what advantages can it bring us for the future? Will it indeed be like we're on the Star Trek enterprise and get to the point where we beam into another parallel universe? Or will it be that we find a smart being that can manipulate our minds and fuse it with advanced levels of artificial intelligence?  We may never know but social media will continue to be a huge aspect of diversified communications.
