Facebook, Inc. & the Performance Map Quadrant Theory

Facebook, Inc. & the Performance Map Quadrant Theory
After doing some careful research, I have decided to research the overwhelming growth of social media.  Granted, there are quite a few social media giants from Twitter, Myspace, and Pinterest that are currently trending right now.  The world of cyberspace has been increasingly growing exponentially and has alternately created the realm of social networking.   Therefore, I have chosen to research the company mission and strategy guidelines of Facebook.   Facebook was first created initially only for college students and was founded by Mark Zuckerberg while studying psychology at Harvard University.    Being though a very diligent programmer, Zuckerberg has already developed some social networking websites for fellow students to collaborate with one another.   In addition in 2004, Facebook was born and have since forever taken the way many communicate by storm. (Phillips, 2007).   Facebook company mission and principles were carefully reviewed in the following bulleted manner:
1)  Freedom to share and connect.
2) Ownership and control of information.
3) Fundamental equality
4)  Free the flow of information.
5)  Social value
6)   Open platforms and standards.
7)  Fundamental service
8)  Common welfare
10)  Transparent process
11)  One world
(Facebook, 2014).
Facebook, has some very good elements that tie into their company mission but can very well benefit from implementing human performance technology to enhance its quality.  The HPT aspect that can be formally aligned into Facebook principles include the four key quadrants of the performance map.   The four key quadrants are the following;
1)      Structure: the foundation of the organization.
2)      Motivation: the emotions, desires, and psychological needs that incite action.
3)      Environment: the external and internal conditions that affect the growth and development of the organization.
4)      Learning: the increase of employee proficiency in a given area.
(Pershing, 2006 pg. 44).
Facebook wants to create opportunities among users and help them facilitate content in a legal and social manner.  Each performance map quadrant handles the “who, where, what, and how” of their organization. This directly assists Zuckerberg and the other management team to operate efficiently. This being done according to their enhancing their company culture, competence, and increase confidence. In addition, can directly implement each element of Facebook company principles adequately by giving it a strategic edge in the open market.
